These Officers provide traffic enforcement and answer calls for service. All Officers are trained First Responders and certified with automatic external defibrillators. Byram Police Officers strive to provide our residents with the highest quality police services available.

The Byram Township Police Department appreciates the public's help in solving crimes. You can provide any information you have regarding any crime or suspicious activity anonymously by completing the tip form. You are not required to give your name or any information that may identify you if you do not want to. This form is not to be used for reporting crimes. To report a crime please call the Byram Police Department's dispatcher at (973) 347-4008.

The following is a list of some of the services that the Byram Police offer to our residents:

  • Child car seat installation/check. The majority of child car and booster seats are installed incorrectly creating a potential safety issue. We will inspect your car or booster seat and make sure that it is installed correctly. These checks are conducted by appointment only and take from 15 to 30 minutes depending on child seat model. There is no charge for this service.  Appointments can be made by contacting Officer D'Onofrio or Officer Dellicker at (973) 347-4008. Additional information on child safety seats can be found at http://www.nj.gov/oag/hts/childseats/index.html.

  • Child identification kits/fingerprinting. Child identification kits and fingerprinting are conducted various times throughout the year at organized events. For the next scheduled event or to have us attend your event please call Lt. Zabita at (973) 347-4008.

  • Free gun locks. Gun locks are available free of charge to Byram residents. They can be picked up at the Police Station from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. If you have any questions please contact Tina Stopa at (973) 347-4008.
